Hmmm.....you know, there are times when the duct tape thing and kids just doesn't seem to cut it. :P

I find the :macx: cockpit to be large enough but I sure wish we had the :macm: lollypop steering pedestal as well

You can purchase the M pedestal from BWY I believe...

I did a mod where I cut down the side panels on the X pedestal and squeezed it 6" smaller to make it have a smaller footprint.

Together with a cutout seat, deck, and double mainsheet to keep lines clear the cockpit can really be opened up.

This looks promising!!!

You can even get rid of the center captain's seat and the support altogether. Make a separate tiller steering just for the rudder, and cable steering for the motor. GET RID OF THE PEDESTAL and need to connect/disconnect the motor. Then we have a clear path all the way out into the motor/water.
And attach stern seats and attach extend swim platform.
I can easily see 4 adults and few kids sitting in the cockpit area.

Oh man! I am geezin' hard! I remember "Branded"...and big 5¢ Hershey bars! I also recall the opening song's variant lyrics...And now they're gonna "earworm" me all day long:

Stranded!
Stranded on a toilet bowl!
What can you do when your stranded,
and you haven't got a roll?

Best of luck in your search for "the perfect boat"! I have only seen one Mac 26M in the flesh, and, some obvious advantages aside, it made me happy to have found a later-model 26X with its roomier cockpit and transom entry, aft head and swing keel. For those, I'll put up with the 26X's pizza oven afterberth and fixed galley.

U know 2 mac,s woulda been a better choice when u only need 1 take her out now when u need both u can have a race , as the kids get older they will want their own party boat so its a win win situation , just saying thats all , when my kids were growing up they had so many activities on the go between sports, music lesson,s & other thing,s kids like to do with their friends & family their just was not as much time to go boating as much as we wished , & today,s kids have even more activities going on in their life,s it,s hard to compromise without being controlling don,t want to clip those free thinkin wing,s lol

The days when families had more time together r sadly gone with most parents workin & usually on different shifts , kids workin part time to pay for there extra activities , kids grow up & no longer live close to home because of lack of job opportunities, not like the good old days as they say lol

when u get the boat u feel is right for u & ur family lat us all know , wish u the best

I had an :macx: and wasn't happy with the cockpit space as well. Loved the boat as it did everything I needed other than the space issue. Someone showed me a Hunter 260 and I immediately made the switch. Ideally I would have a 34' boat but cost and lake access are prohibitive for me. I need the trailering option and space. The 260 meets my needs. All boats are compromises and for me I'm very happy with the 260. Something to consider if trailering is a must for you. Hate to see someone walk away from sailing.
