The Navionics iPhone app is cheaper and it will run on both so you can try it first. I have a cheap waterproof case that has a loop for a lanyard.

Neo wrote:Thanks Guys,

I've downloaded most of these on my iPad. With regards to Navionics, it's available in HD for the iPad .... Is HD worth the extra expense?

UPDATE!
Bugger!.... Just remembered that my iPad does not have 3G/4G or GPS support ... so pretty useless!! ... Will have to spend more dollars!!
Also what do you iPad users use as case/enclosure for your iPad?

All the best.
Neo
You can tether it to a phone, or just use the Navionics like a chart.

I use mine under the enclosure in bad weather or up top in good. No case.

I use the LIFEPROOF NUUD waterproof case for my IPAD AIR 2. There is also a LIFEPROOF FRE' case for older IPADs.

I believe there are Bluetooth GPS pucks on the market that should be able to interface with an IPad, haven't seen one in awhile though...

Found one here:
