Do you know what this valve (photo) exactely does?
It controls air. And if you open/close it with your finger you can bring the motor off.
So maybe this little thing does not work properly and brings the motor down?
Anybody knows more?

Thanks!
It's the idle air solenoid. It opens at low rpm when the throttle is closed there are actually troubleshooting diagnostics on you tube.

Thanks so far.

I try to check the fuel pump. Any idea how to do it? What pressure shall it get and at which tube to mesure? In the manual it sais max 4psi, what should be the pressure when idling or fool throtle?

I have an electric fuel pump Facet 40107 Image

The pressure can rise 7psi. Is this too high for just testing (see manual sais max 4psi).

And: Where / at which output I have to mount the electic pump?
Here is the original, see photo:

Thanks at all!

Have you tried searching for/using a Mercury forum for help? When I was suffering through my endless issues with my Evinrude I found the Evinrude owner's forum to be a considerable help to sorting out my problems. Try here: http://www.marineengine.com/boat-forum/ ... oard-Forum

unofortunatel not yet.
It ist now with a mercury dealer and he really is willing to solve the problem.

He found a sensor that givs uncorrect signals (measures the air pressure where the air comes in... sorry I dont know the words in English....)

But even when this sensor is chanched, after 4 minutes the motor goes off.

So they want to change the idle air solenoid and talk directly to mercury technicians.

We have hear best summer in switzerland - but no boat :-(

Hello
The solution was: The high pressure fuel pump had to be replaced. Since then no problem anymore!

U should not be able to rev that 4 stroke that high in neutral the rev limiter switch will kick in & then the eng misfires & runs like sh_t , as it restricts rpm,s until u throttle back , if that switch is sticking & thinks u r still in neutral when in gear u will feel like u r running out of gas the moment it starts sticking , but if u throttle back to about 1200rpm.s it will run fine * then when u idle down it will shut down "stall" check it out I had one go on me periodically acting up over a 2 yrs giving me grief as it was not a complete failure it would not throw a fault code until it finally failed , its a $34. switch
