A Mac 26S with two Oceanis 38s as outriggers is what my computer spits out. I know where I can get one 38 cheap, late at night, now I have to find another.mastreb wrote:So the math says that the Hobie 16 amas are about ideal for keeping a MacGregor 26 level. However, those akas are way to small to stand up to any real weather. Looking at my boat, it's not at all clear where good hard points for akas would be. I think I'd take two single 2" AL pipes bent to go over the deck and mount them port and starboard with pillow blocks, and then use a system of dyneema stays to keep the akas in position fore to aft. That way there's no compromise of watertight integrity below the deck liner.

. . . . Tri-MacGregor? . . . .MacGregormoran? . . . Macmoran . . . no that does not work,
Yeah, it won't work, based on my best scientific analysis as shown above it will still be slower than the standard MAC D. I think the experiment will be a failure.

Re: mac tri maran
Mmm I think I,ll stick with my lowly poor clipper rigged
so cheap to keep & so cheap to maintain & so much boat for the $$$ , makes it a super duper deal that deliver,s soooo much satisfaction , just get ur sh~t & head together & make it happen
, Yeah I coulda spent my money buying a bigger boat with 10 times the maint. cost,s . but i,m a simple guy with a extravagant lifestyle when it comes to my boat & learned how to make it happen , with lots of patience !

Meh. Too heavy and deep-keeled for purpose. But there's another one here in San Diego somewhere...Catigale wrote:A Mac 26S with two Oceanis 38s as outriggers is what my computer spits out.
