HI Kurz, Yes you are correct. It comes with a fan and everything except for the cap that you install outside. I guess the theory is to move more air through the toilet so that everything below dries out quicker which would turn it into dirt quicker and keep the smell moving along outside as well. I am going to put a switch on mine as well as some times I don't use it for a few weeks and my solar panels are inside so it might end up killing the batteries. I don't use the sink in the bathroom at all so I am toying with the idea of just taping the toilet air hose into that line under the sink and just plugging up the sink. This way I don't have to drill another hole in my boat....there's something definitely wrong with putting holes in a boat

all our treatment plants, after lacing the natural stuff with all kinds of chemicals and floculants, pump the stuff back into the ocean.
personally, i would use a bucket, right on deck- for both #1 and 2 and dump it overboard. but the family dont like it much- my mother in law might object- and i really dont want to run the chance of her not using the washroom, and her being even more full of sh1t than she currently is!
interresting point about the fact that once a receptacle is used, it can now not be dumped.
maybe a fold down toilet seat that is attached to the bowsprit - just like the good ol days

With the engine down, it's possible, using the boarding ladder in the up position, to replicate that airy above water feeling of those old time ships bathroom facilities, at least on the M model. One can cling lightly to the mast support with one foot on the engine and one on the boarding ladder, while emptying both body and soul of the days unpleasent accumulations.

You guys realize that you are talking and promoting "pooping in a bucket on deck" and also "pooping overboard on a seat hanging over the side" right? All I can say is Ewww Ewww Ewwww.....lol. Remind me not to feed you beans just before we go sailing. The civilized and environmentally safe way of doing it is a composting toilet. And again I say EEEwwww!!!

Yes human poop is gross and unsanitary but it's not radioactive. In most cases using the toilet is better however sometimes you won't want to assault anyone else's olfactory territory in an enclosed space so quietly going "outside" in areas where it won't have any impact. (Other then hitting the water) is ok in my book.

If you have a dog you (I hope) go out every day with a bag or two to "scoop the poop". Gets you used to it.

You know, a 4" hole saw and a stern rail seat could solve this problem nicely.

There's a video of a diver swimming near a whale he apparently pi$$ off, and it took this most attrociously huge dump all around him and his GoPro. He posted on YouTube what a great naturally wonderful thing it was being fogged in by whale dump.

we all poop- even the queen-
its perfectly normal-- not advocating playing with it- just thats its pretty normal.
but then coming from a ranching bacground in africa, that kinda stuff doesnt really worry us.
i remember as kids,we all ran around barefoot, and on a frosty morning we would run from fresh cow pat to fresh cow pat keeping our feet warm.

a little different to human poop- its only grass with some mucous !!!

I literally just removed this exact toilet from it is just too big, it consumes 80% of the room in my WC and is too tall to be comfortable, I had to have the door open when using it to make room for my right leg, the has more room than the for the toilet and I cant imagine how you would make it fit and still be functional. The other reason I took it out is that it is just too hard to empty, I fitted a macerator but it only removes about 70% of the waste, the rest stays in the tank, it just wont lift it high enough, you can have it pumped out but that is expensive and not all marinas have the facility. I opted for a 20 litre porta potti and havnt looked back, easy to use, comfortable, easy to empty either over the side at sea or at home/marina and holds its own fresh water. My 40 litre fresh water tank now lasts a lot longer for dishes and washing hands etc. Toilets on boats are complicated, just use a porta potti, under $100 and simply work.
