marcopolo173,

I have the kit sold by sailrite and I am very happy with it. You can read a previous thread here:
http://www.macgregorsailors.com/forum/v ... 02#p279829

I use the lazy jack kit from sailcare.

Thanks Sea Wind, looks like a beauty. Couple of queries:
Any issues raising/dousing the sail with the lazy jacks?
How long did it take to make?

Very nicely set up. Like the roominess of the large "X" cockpit in particular. :)

Happy to answer any questions about this project. I added a small piece of line that goes from the Lazy jacks to the stays just above the spreader to make them wider at the top and that helped a lot. The lazy jacks were installed a year before the stack pack, and it was painful to get around the regular sail cover. The stack pack kit from Sailrite comes with a very good DVD with instructions. I saw that and read a few online blogs (including Summer’s, of course) to tweak a few things. For example, I added a mast gate to a have lower pack.

It took about 15-20 hours. It helps a lot if you have a dedicated area to work on the project, the boat in your driveway for measurements and dedicate 1 or 2 weekends for the project. I had none of the above. We bought a new Sailrite sewing machine and had done a few other projects before the stack pack. We are currently/desperately putting the finishing touches on a custom dodger before we go to the Keys next week.

Depending how you value the cost of your labor you don’t necessarily save money on the size required for a Mac (that would be a different story on a larger sailboat), but you get a lot of experience for other sewing projects, things done your way and it is a good way to do something related with boating during the winter, at least that is what I tell myself.
Very nicely set up. Like the roominess of the large "X" cockpit in particular. :)
Thanks! :P

when I made & designed my 4ft double anchor bowsprit I looked @ several designs but where not compatible with the :macm: so I looked @ the best designs & re-de-signed the concept to fit a :macm: with a lot more strength with a deck & hull & superior connection required for :macm: these mods r not avail so u r free to design ur own

Well apparently I stand corrected , I received a very informative E/M from someone on this site who is very knowledgeable on the subject , I will not mention their name without there permission as I can understand why they would not need to get involved in any ongoing legal issues , so Precision Sails Loft did in fact take his "Summer,s" photo & apparently have used it along with several other pics from other Sail Lofts without any of them giving permission .

Also with the info I was given I certainly would not be buying any of their products & I think neither would anyone else on this site if they now knew what I now know !

Also I was informed these pic,s have now been removed from there web-site

Summer posted Ruths handiwork (may her memory be a blessing) in several places. Here's one:

http://forums.sbo.sailboatowners.com/sh ... p?t=121305

It's a tribute to Ruth's handiwork that they thought highly enough of her work to try to pass it off as their own. :D

That was exactly my point of view when I came across the picture to start with.....and that it was a bit cheeky of them to pass it off as their own.

I just happened on this thread and that for sure is a picture from my site. I found this link that shows it in their description of their Lazy Cradle....

http://www.precisionsailloft.com/produc ... nt_image=2

I don't see it in the current description so they took it down..

http://www.precisionsailloft.com/sails/ ... zy-cradle/

I have had other things, mostly car stuff, taken from my site and then the author claimed it to be theirs. What are you going to do  , if people can do that with a clear conscious then let it be their problem.

As mentioned stack packs aren't new but we did do a few things in that one and especially the one for the Endeavour (removable mast part) I've never seen before. I can say the same for the dodger and netting for both boats. One thing is to pay someone to do some of this detail work would cost a lot and people who make these for a living have to be cost competitive which we never worried about,

Sumner

P.S. And I was having a great time on the boat while you guys were discussing this :) .

Welcome Bach Sumner!

Another one of the photos on that page was built by my company, Hyde Sails, for the Hanse company , based on the design submitted to us by Hanse. They plagarized the picture off the Hanse Owners Website. Here's the picture on Precision Sail Loft's website: It's still there. And I'm gonna leave it there because the joke's on them if anybody googles them :D
