I have news guys;
Prices updated by the dealer.... 70A-90A difference droped to $400 8)
if I pay $800 more I can buy the 115A (2044 cc.) 8) 8)
But 2044 cc. is huge :!: So I better go for 1502 cc.

Thanks,

I upgraded to a 50 hp Merc. Big Foot as my old lady Honda 50 bf could no longer crank the tractor.
Yep trader in for the younger one and got 2mph topend faster than the old diehard 50 Honda.
Goes for traden in the old lapper is much better ride.
Just don't tell my wife! :)
My 50 bigfoot does 17.5 mph in my heavy MacX. in a 2ft chop. cruises at 14.5 mph @ 4500rpm. top rpms 5000.
I like the 7mph cruise, slow down to a gallup.

I,d go for the 115A 2044cc big block means big torq & usually lots more torq over a bigger range of RPM makes for huge fuel savings & lots of B,s

I put an older Nissan 90hp on my :macx: after the 50hp gave out. It pushes my boat to around 20-22 mph with full ballast. I don't have transom wedges but did put a big guy out on the pulpit once and the boat pushed up on to a true plane and easily hit 28mph but I quickly backed off as it didn't feel that stable to me.

The 90hp is a pretty thirsty engine; I tend to get around 3mpg. It might not be much of an issue on a lake but I'm typically on the Puget Sound so I really have to pay attention when planning trips.

My recommendation would be to go with the smallest engine that will accomplish what you need...

If there's no difference in weight, I'd go for the more horsepower.

Dollars are not really the tradeoff. You're going to spend more than those dollars on the first mistake you make with your MacGregor. Weight never goes away. Get all the HP you can for the same weight.

Etec, Its based on the old 175 and puts out 90hp at 2500rpm, and 150hp at 4000 8)

It also has a MAP of $14K :o

Sadly, my 75 is bulletproof

Showing no signs of slowing down, mtc issues, anything whatsoever

So, cant make a move

Unless I find 15 grand hiding somewhere that isnt needed for "Anything else"

Someone has to try it

25mph 3000rpm :?:

When comparing the same block 4 stroke engines like the DF70/80/90a with the computer reprogrammed for a horsepower range I bet it looks similar to this published honda curve, fairly identical up to 5,000 rpm.

The Honda 150 advertises a good 40 hp less than the etec at 3500.

Fuel consumption gauge shows etec 150 burning 4.6 gph @3000 rpm ,about 2 gph @2000 rpm and about 1.5 gph at 1500 rpms ? I plan on running my 90 etec tomorrow because I forgot my rpm's at speed ? But I'm hoping it is around under or around 1 gph .

I think the elephant just farted in the room & now we can't ignore that, triple digit HP should be on the table to anyone considering repowering :|
I believe to push our waterbagos efficiently potential 60hp buyers should get 90's. & 90's wannabes should get the V4 90 HO or Pontoon V4. It's 1726 CCs 390#'s with various gear ratios. The V6s are out of my re re repower budget. But power boats in our size would bolt on a V6.
