Yeah I used some fancy stuff that is supposed to loosen anything but that did nothing. I used a bloody big bar to try and pry it and a bloody big hammer to wack it to the point I was worried about doing some damage. Perhaps I need someone without two left hands to do the prying and wacking..

I gave up as we are leaving on Monday and I'm too busy. I wedged the guards up and took it for a test drive on Sunday, and found them still occasionally hitting the guards. So now I have wedged the guards hard up against the boat and ground off some of the glass inside the fender....

Looks like it should do the job for the trip. I'll check it after the first 50 miles and if its hitting, I'll just have to turn around and cancel the trip.... Thought about putting the old tyres back on but am a bit scared of them...

I'm not really sold on the idea of adjusting the suspension as the front of the trailer already angles down a bit and this would make that worse and mean I'd have to do something about that too.....

Not sure what other tyres Aussies are using where they arnt having this problem?

The arms on my suspension are not at the same angle - The left side seems to be lower than the right (??)

oh and a wider spreading tool

Using the gentle persuader where the arrow shows - gentle tapping metal on metal - the arm comes off.

The rotation I used can be seen from the marks - maybe 6 splines.

The end result is

The guards are still canted up - need to drop them again.

Edit: I should mention the tyres I am using. Think these are they

Well done Jimbo! 8) and thanks for posting the pics. They have inspired me to give it another go with a bigger and better wacking device!

It will have to wait till I get back from whale watching though! This morning I drove about 30 miles on the bumpy country road near where I live and the wheel may have hit the guard once but that's about it, so I'm confident she should be fine for the trip. Want to sort it out when I get back though as I have steel rods behind the mudguards pushing them up and that will lead to corrosion if left.

As to Tyres, I really blew it I'm afraid. The guy from Tyre Power told me the best option was using what I have on my Pajero, Maxis 700s. I said I really need something that can handle more weight (from memory, the max weight of the maxis 700 is about 1050kgs), but he reckoned there wasn't anything on the Oz market in that size that would be any better. Guess he saw me coming and just sold me what he had :( I'm not willing to throw away $400 of tyres, and these are not really suitable without some more clearance, so I'll give it another go when I get back! May end up having to do something about making the tow ball higher on the Pajero though....

Cheers
