There have been two separate incidents - in both cases the waves were less than 2 feet. In both cases the water tempt was cited - the people had no idea about what they were getting into. One of the dead was a "rising star" at a local law firm - not sure how "rising" you can be at 26 -must have been just out of law school.

That's another thing I've learned.

If one person goes into the water, you have one emergency and n rescuers.
If someone goes into the water after them, now you have two emergencies, and n-1 rescuers.
