Great feedback everyone - your viewpoints are very much appreciated. I don't think I'll be getting the rotors turned, I took a quick glance at them last night and they do look quite rusty, which may or may not be that big of deal, but I think I'll go get some shiny new ones and leave it at that.

I don't want to cheap out on vital vehicle components, I want to get the best product for the best possible price - value for money. From searching, I found the Powerstop kit, which was highly rated and found a US supplier at a good price. I don't know if these are considered to be part of the "premium" group or not. If I go that route, I then need to get them put on. I'm not a mechanic, but I can find one todo the install for a couple hundred dollars or less. I think the install isn't all that complicated, can probably be DIY, but I'd rather have someone who knows what they are doing do it and check for any other issues while they are there.

If I get a local shop or a larger retail chain to do them, then I get whatever parts they put on - which may or may not be better than the kit I found but would perhaps have a better warranty. This would be simpler, but I may be getting lesser quality for a higher price. I hate lesser quality at a higher price.

I guess I'm wondering if rotors and pads are truly "you get what you pay for" or if getting a rotor and pad kit is akin to cheaping out when the more expensive parts individually would be much better/safer.
