For those looking for a berth on the Occoquan for what's left of the 2015 sailing season, albeit with no launch ramp, there's a fellow named Dave who's been posting on the local DC craigslist for several months hoping to sell his condo-slip berth at the Fairfax Yacht Club. I contacted him about perhaps renting it from him from time to time on an "as needed" basis until he found a buyer, and he offered,
"If you want to berth your boat for $30/night, I would need a minimum of 8 nights ($240) for each of Sep and Oct (still prime boating season). I would also do a week to week for $125/week or month to month for $400 /month for Sep and Oct, and lesser amounts for Nov and on, if interested. I would still need the proviso for you to leave on 48 hour notice in case I got a full-time lessee.". This would have been fine with me, but when I went on by the place for a looksee, I was surprised to find no boat launch ramp...So, that was a deal killer for me, even though he later mentioned,
"The next marina over, Occoquan Harbor Marina, has a launch ramp.". Otherwise, it seemed a pleasant enough little marina, though with very limited services apart from a little clubhouse with kitchen and some picnic areas and barbecue pits.
For somebody for whom a launch ramp right there on hand may not be essential--who basically just wants a dock on the Occoquan on the right (Potomac) side of that bridge--his most recent ad, now offering rental instead of just outright sale, can currently be seen as "Boat Slip for rent on Occoquan River 40' x 14'" at
http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/nva/ ... 17315.html, with his current outright sale ad at

By the way, if there are any 26X owners in Prince William County willing to let me swing by some weekend afternoon for good look at their boat just for reference sake while I struggle to get mine together from baling wire, old Harbor Freight coupons and raw ignorance, please do drop me a PM.
