Went out for more trouble shooting today. PO had a Racor water separator in the parts bucket. I installed that along with the new tank and primer/line. I noticed the high psi pump sounded weak when I turned on the key and checked resistance. Supposed to be 30-40ohms but its reading 3 ohms. It doesn't sound like its pumping much at all. If I turn the key on and off a few times it will put enough psi in the manifold to idle for awhile. Ordering a pump today. Has anyone ever removed the vapor separator top to change the pump? Looks like a pain but doable.

SOunds like you are on right track. Just make sure you make all resistance measurements with wiring disconnected.
Ive done one splice repair to a wire on my Merc in 10 years.
One of the reasons I think you shouldnt repower...

Turns out a coworker has a Mercury DDT scanner
He's bringing it in tonight so I can scan tomorrow. I'll post results and what I find inside the vapor separator, maybe even pics in case someone else has to tear into one.

Got my parts installed. The 120.00 fuel manifold came with the 110.00 fuel injectors installed
The fuel pump was trashed. Missing the lower grommet to keep it in place, connector cracked and the casting at the top was cracked off and nowhere to be found. I replaced the IAC solenoid, Fuel pump, high PSI fuel filter and lines, fuel/water separator filter, the leaking fuel distribution manifold which came with the injectors. I also bought new fuel tanks and primer bulb/line.
Starts and runs great now. Still haven't seen coworker to get the scanner. 10 hr rotating days off we only cross paths once a week.
