Re: Registration markings on inflatable dinghy
Same in NY, no motor, no registration required
When you cruise however, if you lose your dinghy, if its registered you will probably get it back...

Re: Registration markings on inflatable dinghy
On the subject of markings on a dinghy. It would seem to make sense to put the name of your boat on your dinghy,to make it easier to recover if it get's lost.
However.....
If your dinghy has the boat name and you're off visiting an island or gone ashore for groceries,it's now advertising that there's a pretty good chance that there's nobody aboard the vessel, making it a theft target.

That is true in FL. but I have a 2.5 hp outboard, I only use the outboard when longer trips ,current and wind prevents oaring.

I asked at the Tax-Collectors office when I recently registered theand was told that I don't need to register the dinghy as long as there is no motor attached to it.

On Cuttyhunk our
is Catigale and our tender is "Chunk"
If thief can figure that out ill give them credit ....
Since the whole island only has 100 people, not too much theft there anyway...and I anchor next to a fisherman whom I bought a fleece from the CYC one year, so he always watches out for me.
