so your saying your boat is not insured with it's own policy.you only have homeowners insurance and that policy repaired your boat.i have been with statefarm homeowners for 40years,they recently gave a bid of 280.00 year for my 2008 26M on its own policy only.if you infact are covered under a homeowner only policy please give me your agents name as i would like to give him my bussiness if this is true.

I am surprised Ford has not taken U-Haul to court on this one - dates back to the days of the Firestone tire issue. Both vehicle and tires have been completely redesigned. Interesting that they will rent to owners of identical Mercury, Lincoln, or Mazda vehicles (same vehicle, different emblem)
Also, do not try to rent with a convertible top vehicles like a soft-top Jeep Wrangler.

EEOC only covers race religon an gender not vehicle make or model... no legal ground on that one...

X3 ...kinda (but boat+trailer is separate from homeowner's policy)

One advantage to doing it that way is that if you do make a claim on one or the other, the policies are mutually exclusive, so the ratings and rates can only be changed/increased on one and not the other. Not so if you have the policies together. At least in my locale.

Some homeowners policies will cover boats under 26' (X & Ms are 25' 10"). I didn't even bother to check mine because I want an insurance company that knows boats. That's one reason I went with BoatUS insurance.

Farm Bureau will not cover under homeowners policy. I've already asked *sigh*. Unless someone else in here has Farm Bureau that did allow it?

I kinda doubted russ was giving legit info,must have been secondhand info from someone who misunderstood their agents explanation.most homeowners policy's nowadays don't even want to insure guns,electronics,jewelry,furs etc unless you purchase a seperate rider policy for losses over a thousand dollars.

The MacGregor at the Factory website says that many homeowners policies cover boats under 26'. We have a separate insurance with Progressive as our State Farm does not (I checked). It's not much money.

Yes, factory site has old info. Apparently years ago this was more common.
Ins. Companies got smart and sell you a separate policy now. Some claim limited coverage while the boat is on your property.
I'm still a fan of a company that knows about boats. Don't want a house adjuster writing me a check for fiberglass damage.

Boat US....$114 per year and that includes coastal coverage

I also have Progressive. Boat, trailer, motor insured for $30,000 was $400 per year. I don't know if that's good or bad, but that's what I did to at least get started.

I am using Traveler's through my local independent agent here in CT. The insure everything except my motorcycle for which I have Progressive. My boat is a rider on my policy which includes house, cars and boats with an umbrella over all. Travelers came in price wise under BoatsUS who only would insure my 05M for $15000 and Travelers insured it at $30000 which is more like a realistic replacement cost. I think it was just under $300 a year.
I debated using Travelers as my wife was a state employee (no jokes, a hard working state employee) and they had a program just for state workers that low balled you on price the first year and then started making pretty substantial jumps. I have had them for 6 years and no major price hikes. Very happy and cmopetitive pricing with other house/car insurance companies.

discalimer I do not work for Travelers in any way and no monies have been paid to myself.
