bald: no nuts and bolts just large stainless sheet metal screws The force on the cam cleat is pulling up not out and doesnt seem to be a problem.
I have watched it and its not bending or pulling lose.
Jim: as far as a full encloser it would seem like it would be diffacult to sail at all. There are times you have to get up there, if you dont have lazy jacks your sail will be all over the deck
even with slugs.
It would seem to me just plain hard to sail with the encloser. Maybe if you had the front able to open then you could get up there, then again if the front opens then you dont have to worry about putting a wedge on the cam cleat.
I have a large bimini and even with that, sailing is a little restricted. It can be done but its still harder then with an open cockpit.
Besides even with an encloser you will have it up what? 1 time in ten so go for it. Make sure the boom has clearance though.
What I mean about the bimini is, its hard to get to the topping lift when I put the sail down. My toppoing lift is adjustable so when the sail is lowered the boom wont land on the bimini. And it puts the boom up high when not sailing.
