Mine is from BWY and definitely looks different. So you can rule that one out

Those Solar Vents are meant for just that Ventilation.. They are not meant for comfort..Mine works well for That Purpose.. Moving Air when the boat is closed up..and Not In Use... I too have a couple 12V fans.. They Oscillate... that seems to help as well.
I had been keeping my boat in a slip and have a Cruise Air.. that is just one of many items, around here, that needs to be sold, now that the move to Florida seems to be just beyond the horizon...

Which hatch did you install? Where did you get it? How much money?

I have the same Bugbusters Hatch Insect Screen as Rob, I like it too, it fits well to keep bugs out, and pulls down in a second.

For sleeping I whipped up a screen for the companionway from a piece of 5/16” birch plywood, some aluminum screening, and some copper gimp tacks. Slips down in place of the factory companionway cover, and folds up tight against the sliding hatch for a bug-proof fit. A great DIY project that can be done by anyone with modest skill and limited tools.

Nice and light and stows out of the way flat against the hull in the aft birth.

I like the hatch in a hatch idea. It makes me feel better about cutting holes in my boat. If for some reason I completely screw up the install, I can replace the hatch instead of trying to patch the hole.

It would be a neat idea to install the opening hatch in the what appears to be a similar hole of one of the two overhead windows instead.

First of all I sleep in the V berth & u r not going to have that big hatch open in 50mp/h winds , I have had that little one open a crack in that kinda weather for ventilation & as it has a metal frame & a locking support arm so it stands up to the forces of strong winds & has a built in bug screen , it also allows lots of light in the v berth when u need it I also have a blind that closes it off for privacy, it is great for ventilation on the cooler & hot raining weather , & u can go to sleep on the coldest nights & still gaze @ the stars open or closed ! , the big hatch is best suited for launching gear & sails onto the foredeck or as an emg. exit & ventilation on the very hot windless nights , the smaller hatch is an all yr weather hatch
Some people have already done the small hatch in the front windows as u mention but I am not so sure thats a good Idea becuase I am not sure that will not eventualy lead to cracked windows because u r now putting a lot of stress on a window when the hatches r open from strong gusts of wind , but I do like the Idea of the front windows opening & may one day do that mod , but I think the ideal mod would be for custom made opening windows to completely replace the original windows but thats going to be big money but if one could find already manufactured windows that could be easily made to fit or needed slight mod to fit would be the best ideal
