We sleep with all boards up. Halyards tied away from the mast.
And the rear ballast valve open. We anchor with a Bahamian
anchoring system so there is minimal swing and we sleep just
great. Seagriff

I find you get used to the noises as long as you can identify them. It's those odd ones that keep you up. We have spent up to 3 weeks on our M and I sleep great, better than at home. I find I can only de-stress on the water.

Re: Things that go bump in the night
Funny story- we're anchored off Cumberland Island, GA. Wind kicks up a little ovenight, i start hearing ting ting ting ting.... then clunk cluck clunk.
I knew I left the swing keel down, that was the clunk, but the ting ting was coming from somewhere outside.
Was really comfortable in my bunk and didnt want to get up.
Finally after a few ##$%$^%$ i climbed out and pulled up the keel, and found one of the clips was loose from the Bimini top.
The next morning over coffee, the Admiral laughed and said that she had heard it too, but knew that if she waited long enough, I would fix it.
I guess the Captain is always going to be burdened with checking out those noises, but you can get used to most of them and still get a decent nights sleep.
Fair Winds,
Dave
