Thanks for trying. It looks like the link above missed some of the original. Of course it doesn't help that it is the world's longest link. I've never done much posting of pictures online beyond facebook, but I will get some of my own posted somewhere and try again.

Nice boat. I see you got the faster blue hull.
It needs some love, but overall, I'm sure it will clean up nicely.

Aah! bitten by ye ole sailing bug be ya now? Arggh!
I learned to sail in San Francisco bay, in my 20s, while I was attending US Navy "A" school for damage control.
I didn't think about it, or have time or money for it for years after.
I think I was a year or two older than you are now (you said 37, right ?) when I decided to find a boat. I was having something in-between a midlife crisis and a nervous breakdown. The stress in my life was tremendous.
Rather than to waste my hard earned dough (and I mean hard) on some shrink or something, I decided to find an old sailboat and work it all out myself. This has worked beautifully.

I'm now pushing 60 and I'm younger than I was when I was 40........... and much happier.
I highly reccomend the sport of sailing and buying an older boat. As someone else said, half the fun is fixing up an old boat and putting some of your own personality into it.
It's not always fair winds and following seas, but sailing is mostly great. And as someone else said, every day you sail, you add a day to your life, so it's free time
Welcome.
Best Breezes,
Steve K.

(and a breeze is all I need)

Hmm, the link works for me, but I have a Picasa account, so maybe that is the problem. Try this link:

Since my boat was made in 1972 it is a venture is that correct? Several sail bags are marked "venture 2 22" although I realize they could have come from anywhere.
Is there a "riging for dummies" thread? I put the mast up today and figured lots of stuff out, but I cannot figure out where the mainsheet attaches. There is an eye with a cleat on the port side, but nothing cooresponding on the starboard. There is a short traveler on each side of the forward cockpit but they have small pulleys on them and they don't appear stout enough for the mainsheet.
Thanks for any help.

I think I am getting off topic with all of my questions so I will start a new thread. Thanks for sharing the fun of buying my first boat. Happy sailing.

If you haven't been there yet; go to the Home Page, select Resources, the drop opens and you will see manuals, from there select your boat. Hope this helps you, Good Luck

What year is she. Looks like one of the older models due to the gas tank well for the outboard. Didn't see a price but she looks real clean. Is the keel cast iron or fiberglassed? Keep us posted. Fair winds and full Sails....

She is a 1972. The keel is fiberglassed. It has an ugly patch job on it, so no doubt will be an issue I will have to deal with in the future, but I think it is serviceable for now. I just bought an outboard yesterday, so I am getting pretty close to being able to take a test sail. I even have some poor soul talked into coming along, since my wife has banned me from taking any of the kids out in it until I prove some level of competence (with respect to sailing of course

).
I have my new rudder shaped, I just need to fiberglass it, and paint it. I'll put some pictures up when I get it finished.
Someone asked about the price. I paid $1,500 for the boat and trailer.
