The wind is blowing and chilly at 34 F here. The 1 foot of snow is making it hard to think about treking to Havasu, but I am committed but not ready to travel yet. I was thinking of putting my crewmembers up in a room for the 4 days they are coming to HPCC but have waited too long. There are no rooms available. My other option is to pull my MH out of it's sleep and go with that. How come this seems more like work than fun, must be a hangover in there somewhere.

Four crew members on An "X"? Hm. So common down. If they have sleeping bags I can work in a few on Gypsea dream, No charge to flop. Just do it. See you there.

Dave,
You are very right, perhaps my campers are getting a little older and fussy. I'm not taking the X, bringing the D and it is somewhat primitive. There are no reasonable rooms available in Havasu. Sean has done a super job of advertising this event. There may be a record number of Macgregors in one place.
Hope to see you there.

Not Canadian, but living on Lake Ontario, and the winters are long enough and then some, especially compared to the downstate winters where I lived for all but the last ten years. The admiral, much to my shock, said that we should go! I about fell out of my chair!
I don't have a bucket list, but this may be the start of one. With some planning, I may be able to make such a trip next year.Phil M wrote:Havasu on my bucket list.

There must be some real pent up energy generated by Winter Doldrums behind what I am seeing for the HPCC event. Here are the numbers I just received.
Since every time I post the stats we get a handfull of new
sign-ups I thought I would post today and see if we can push it
over that magical 200 mark. We have a very tight contest
between the Monties and the Macs to see who can bring the most
boats. Montgomery has 32 and MacGregor has 31. But wait...if I
include the two Venture boats with the Macs that puts them on
top at 33! Of course there were probably several thousand more
Macs made over the years so maybe we should handicap them.
Anyway - this might be my last post before we hit the road on
Friday. Here they are by the numbers:
Geography:
States - 26
Canadian Provinces - 4
Countries - 5
Boats:
Total Boats - 195
Total Attendees - 389 (Skippers, crew, and hopeful
crew)
Boat Brands - 56
Most of a Brand - Montgomery with 32 boats
Boat Models - 78
Most of a model - MacGregor 26 with 23
Singletons - 49 - Models with only one boat attending
Driving distances one way towing a boat:
Driving Average - 659 Miles
Thousand Mile Club - 33 Yes, 33 Boats towing over 1000
miles one way! 2000 Mile Club - 6 -
And Yes, 6 Boats towing over 2000 miles one way!
Most Miles - 2,833 Miles!!!
North vs South Grudge Match Teams
By Crew By People
North 119 200.5
South 110 183.5
I don't know how many Macs I raced against last year, but I thought there were only 15. There are some great sailors in the bunch.
