The marina is closed for the season. I have not heard anything. One of the damaged boats from the falling mast is still in a slip.

Found this video looking for any reports about the blaze.

Early reports stated: Two men were getting ready to pull the boat from the water and winter the boat on shore. They had started the engine (diesel) and left the boat to warm up while they visited the marina. It was while they were at the marina, the boat caught fire.

Left the boat running to 'warm up', with nobody on board. And this, just after starting it, too.
Well, I think it 'warmed up' just fine. Yep, that baby got really nice and warm.
*sigh*
You just can't fix stupid.

Unfortunate there were not several fire extuingusers available or used. Looks like if the fire had been seen early ( which it seems from the reports it was) the fire could have been put out with little damage. Very sad. I had looked at this boat a week earlier. Very nice boat. It was the nicest sailboat in a slip at the time.

hi..
Just a shame to see the damage to all those boats. My boatyard does not allow any power cables to be hooked up in the yard if a boatowner is not working on board. They pull them if they see them. I think that is a good plan. Does not take much to start a fire if a heater is left in the wrong place.
thanks
