be careful if your just guessing your way through, that can get expensive to repair your wrong guesses.most manuals are written for experienced techs not beginers. once the lower unit is off the impeller housing has 4 bolts to be removed and you slide off the old ,on with the new and make sure you twist it in to the housing in the same direction it will rotate under power.they give you a new stainless housing liner in the kit but that is a part that never wears out unless your ingesting a steady diet of sand and silt so don't waste your time replacing it,use a little silicone grease on the rubber fins, and plenty of anti-seize on all bolts you reinstall, stainless steel bolts and aluminum threads need protection from eachother.re-torque to specs, again stainless bolts eat out aluminum threads fast.

I wound up with the factory service and parts manuals for the Nissan 50 TLDI although I have the 3 carb model. I'm planning on doing the carb rebuild (poor idle when hot) and impeller change myself this fall, so had BWY order the right manual. PM me if anyone is interested in the manuals for the TLDI.

Thanks for the tips. I got on with it yesterday without any headaches. I split the pump casing while it was still on the shaft as it did not seem to want to come off the shaft, and rightly so as there was a woodruff key that needed to be removed first.

All in all it was all a very straight forward job. As mentioned, make sure the impeller is twisted in the right way. My kit didn't come with new liners.

Apparently there is a sacrificial anode accessed by removing the cylinder head... anyone been there?

I'm researching how to get that pin out. Nissan NS8B. I have Service Manual Pub No. M-304.
The manuals are not that great for anyone looking for help. Nice thread.
