Judy,

Thanks for the info. Very informative. Guess now it depends on what we are willing to spend. I think I would rather go with the CF500, but I dont have the final say...

I would agree the CF-500 is much nicer and I have a better head sail on it, a 165% genoa 8)

I'd recommend you ask Schaefer Marin e Furling at 508 995 9511. They're in Conn ecticut.

I'm sure there's a way to do it. After all, folks replace forestays whe n they get to be 5-7 years old  and keep the furler. I think you will be able to slide it off. If I r ecall correctly, you can't unsnap the two parts of th e extrusion after it's been assembled.

I guess the proper question is what is the length of the forestay on the M verses the D. The extrusion doesn't slide off either.

I am not sure this is true. When I installed my Snapfurl CF700 there was a substantial length I had to cut off to make it fit my new 5/32 forestay (I replaced my forestay with a thicker one plus I upgraded the turnbuckle tp 5/16) and the surplus length could easily be snapped together and then slide apart, I still have a piece to prove it, albeit with the longer luff length size it may be a bit more difficult but I am sure it is doable.

The extrusion should slide off after the turn buckle is remove
