Some threads I have read have noted the X as a "revolutionary" design, but that the M did not match up, for various reasons.
Ironically, I contacted the head of international dealerships in California, and this person wrote back that the MacGregor 26 did not meet the USCG volume regs. Go figure.
In any case, I think I'm just going to have to talk to the documentation folks themselves to finally get a definitive answer. Your point, however, is well taken about the lack of a "checkup" since I am actually in Asia, looking at a boat for sale out here.
