Raise the trailer winch, avoid the Bump

I think a downward pressure on the bow of the boat caused by the winch strap is a good idea:

I can imagine that the shape of the bow might cause the boat to want to lift while its being trailered at highway speeds. I don't think that would be good at all.

The Mac "Bump" is easy to accomplish, just learn how to do it.

If you really can't do it, here's a method to avoid it:

Winch the boat up tight against the trailer. Make sure the ballast gate is open.

Drive the trailer up the ramp a couple of feet. Wait a minute.

Winch the boat tight again. Etc.

I don't think it a good idea to leave a large gap between the Vee block and the boat because this allows the boat to jump around on the trailer on rough stretches of the freeway.
