May I ask what the rated towing capacity of your car is? Also, what size engine does it have?

Contemplating the ability of a Mazda MPV V6 to "occasionally" trailer my 26M up to 350 miles (like say uhm, the keys!)

Top of the line 1994 Buick Lesabre, my 16 year old towing beast!!!!
The towing capacity with out the towing package is 1000lbs. With the towing package which I have put on it which is superior to the towing package you can get for this Buick I can haul 3500lbs+. no problem. I have installed a type 3 hitch, put new cargo coils, 4 extra duty shocks and a transmission cooler. I have the best v6 ever made by GMC the 3.8L V-6 SFI. The factory towing package is approved to haul up to 3000lbs.

I pulled my boat around to my barn and noticed that it looks a little like the tire is leaning in at the top slightly. It's parked on un-even freshly dumped gravel so was I thinking it was my perspective. Ack, something else to worry about! :cry:

I'm contacting the marina where I bought it about the fender and will talk with them about getting the trailer inspected.

My truck has no problems towing at 70 even on hills providing the roads are good. That said, I doubt if I'll pull that fast again. As it was, I had been traveling between 55 and 60 most of the trip home due to rain and poor visibility and I tend to travel slower in the dark. I may have hit something but if so, didn't see it. It was about 2am.

I had a pleasant revelation this evening! I'm not used to buying new vehicles so it never occurred to me that it's under waranty! :P I called Super Sport, explained the problem and I am getting a new fender, light kit, wheel and tire UPS'd to my home! Sweet! :D

Another thing to think about if you experience damaged or lost fender while trailering is insurance. I lost a fender while trailering down I-5 in California. I hit a bad chuckhole in the freeway, which broke the weld on the angle iron attaching fender to trailer frame, and the fender flew clean off before I could repair it. When I got back home I had trouble finding a replacement fender, and ended up going with a different style on both sides for my modified tandem axle trailer. The repair was very labor intensive and expensive. As an afterthought I called my insurance company and learned, to my surprise, that the damage was not only covered, but was subject to a lower deductible than for a boat damage claim. As I recall, the repair bill came to around $750, but the deductible was only $250.

I contacted BWY's about getting a second axel with SS breaks but haven't heard anything yet. :? :D I am buying this week a new 2010 tow rig a E350 XLT Ford cargo van / RV soon as I get it done. They don't make the E250 or 3/4 ton anymore :? . I am getting limited slip put in the rear end for good launch traction at low tides in the Pacific NW. It's going to be a sweet ride and RV. 8)

Had a blow out last week. Side wall collapsed on left side tire on the inside. My concern was the brake lines. Never thought of the fender. Shook the hull out of everything inside and moved the boat sideways on the trailer. Had to jack up the boat and push off the jack on a slope to straighten.

Am sticking to single axel for better 'slow tow' manouverabiltiy & less maintenance, however for peace of mind I want to beef up the load rating of the replacement tires.

Those ST5000 rounded tread tires never looked fair dinkum to me. Seems like I need to up size rims to 16" to get the higher load rating.
