Looks great. The original owner obviously took very good care of his boat. This gives me great confidence that these boats will last a long time if you take care of them.

Your pics didn't post properly but the links worked.

That is one clean, straight looking boat! I can't believe how clean that outboard is, either!

I couldn't help but notice that 4-door Jeep in the pictures...how well does it handle the boat? Do you have any fish-tailing issues with the trailer?

It was in really good shape. He had tool boxes for everything, voyage logs, maintenance, etc. Trailer needs some work, but not everything is perfect! I want to install a brake system


They made a home out of it where on occasion they would stay for a week. He had wired it for 120 v with a battery converter like in RV's, an alternater charger from the engine, had a couple of 120 v sockets, a 150% genoa.Wood was fresh.

The 4 door jeep tows it just fine and stops ok. The trailer does not have surge brakes on it so I will have to add that, or maybe electric over hydraulic. The trailer has a bad light job .. my only real snivel. If all I do is go to the various marinas in the LA-OC area it will be fine. The seller said he tried for years to get the lights to work. He said no matter what he did over the twenty years the lights got water in them and shorted or didn't work. I may look into that. Pretty good guy.

I bought the boat with a partner. Right now it is at my house blocking the motorhome, and I hope to move it to his place. The hope here is to get a routine together where one of us drives it, sets it up, sails it, and leaves it or stays in it overnite at the marina. Next guy gets the Sunday and pack up. Less work.

Cbig - throw away those old lights and put on some sealed LEDS and your trailer light troubles will go away. You can really make them bullet-proof if you run a separate ground wire to each light, rather than relying on the mounts/screws for ground which always give trouble

Where would I find those? I can probably keep the light harness but the way he has it set up is he takes the lights on and off each trip. Time consuming...

Good luck on the shakedown cruise this weekend. I hope you have sunshine and fair winds.

As far as the trailer lights...you can probably find an LED trailer light kit in an auto parts store, Harbor Freight, or somewhere online (West Marine, Cabella's, Bass Pro, etc.). The only trailer light setup that I've ever heard of being removed after ever trip is the magnetic stick on type. If your lights aren't held on by magnets, I'd be interested in seeing how your setup works.

Harbor Freight here in the US will sell you a low end kit, you can order from Trailer Parts Supply or Champion in LA state and get something a little better.

I do carry two magnetic 'tailights' - always on. I confess sometimes Ive left Cape Cod at 8pm at night after being on the water, and cant get my lights working for some reason or another. I turn on the mag lights, stick them on, use a zip tie to double secure them, and trailer home with some lights on the back at least.

I was pulled over on the NYS Thruway once with them in flashing mode, told the cop the truth, and he told me to drive home and fix them, sans ticket.

Believe me .... the 26 is the superior boat (not putting any funny icons here because I am serious)

We are looking forward to it. We get to sail this Saturday. Partner called and wanted to skip work for a day to iron out the kinks in non crowded waters, unfortunately no can do. We'll go thru the lites issue and paint some rustoleum on the trailer - hopefully find the brakes not too stiff price wise. It's in fine shape ... itching to go.
