I wish there was a real ice box with a draining system built into the galley (make it a little bigger). And I wish there was a factory built bilge pump! Also, a heavier dagger board with a 6:1 raising system that was factory tested and installed. I know this may add to the towing weight, but at least make it an option for those who like the extra stiffness.

Yes, a bilge pump for when the rain gets in. Sectioned compartments under the seats for storage to keep it in place. Vent windows in the aft bunk area. Storage doors in the cockpit for lifesaver gear. this would be for the 26M.

Good point on the fadey stripes... Mrs Ad makes me polish them up.. I use a polishing/buffin machine so it doesn't take too long. 'Knot sure' I think used some pretty fancy clean-up stuff...
I thought about bagging n ductape, though don't you get the see-saw effect if 2 sit on them? I thought I heard someone mention closed-cell-foam too, though I've not seen any round here.

About the black stripes, I figure if we polish the area I would bust my but and fall off the boat so just as it is is ok by us.
Condensation in the aft under the bed is a difficult place to stop it but I am trying something new. I will post about it if my idea really works, I am sealing the hatches with stickie back close cell foam tape to keep moist air from contacting the bottom and I hope that will reduce the moisture. I also think water proof insulation under the mattress may help.

But while I have been here...I took the 5-day live-aboard Day Skipper certification in Feb 2008 out of Hamble Point Marina (38 Foot, 24K lb yacht...cold, but a very good time).

I sailed in the Solent with an aborted attempt to circum-navigate the Isle of Wight with RickJ on his in the Summer of 2008. That was a blast but big winds/waves on the South side foiled our attempt.

And I have sailed three times with Bastonjock in the Wash on his ...very good times except for that one time with BIG winds and waves while anchored following a greasy fish 'n chips meal...

So I have some good sailing memories from my time in the UK...but there is room for more memories. Just let me know if you need a partner.

Our "X" has been so much fun (especially since it's in a slip full time), we've overlooked much of our former complaints. (I just didnt enjoy rigging, washing the salt off, trailering, and the one occasion of loosing a wheel). One original complaint was having that fiberglassed "solid" hatch door, and we fixed that quick with a lexan smoke-tint door -- allows the cabin to have a view, more light, and feels less cramped.

Probably, our one issue now is carrying and storing too much stuff aboard, and then its chaos' keeping it nicely arranged, and in some order. We just have to learn, hey, this isnt a 40 footer.
So far, our "X" does us just fine.

Rated from a 1 to a 10, this boat is a 9-plus for our needs.

Those mentioning rain-blown in thru the hatch >>> we solved that with a WalMart foam strip which is designed for a window a/c. It is about 36" long, and can be split to make two strips. Works perfectly --just tuck it in, lock the hatch, and the cabin floor stays dry.

Before I'd add a bilge pump to the list I'd add a bilge.

1) Better looking cushions. I hate all the beige. Older Mac's had nicer ones.

2) A bigger drain in the transom well.

3) Bigger drain in the sink.

4) Better compartment covers ( easy to break them )

5) Second axle on trailer.

6) Decent latch on forward hatch. (Who invented that stupid thing that nobody can figure out?)

What I find most annoying is the lack of anyone, from MacGregor, chiming in regarding issues like the gelcoat problem raised in another current post.

Out of sight, out of mind, therefore, not $ out of their pocket. Fortunately, I have not had this problem with my Rob

Good point. As mentioned, it's out of sight and out of my mind.

The most annoying features that I think could be improved on at the point of design / manufacture are original electrical wiring and access to hardware & accessory fasteners, (ie: nav lights, cleats, etc...). Short of hull failure, I think that any annoyance can be overcome with creative mod ingenuity.
