Until you have seen orange air, you wont believe it.

Re: Texas Macgregor dealer????
After several million miles of over-the-road trucking, I don't think I would be classified as a stay-at-home.
I really had not considered that CARB would put a limit on boat building, but I guess the VOC problem makes sense to them. I guess that is why so much manufacturing has moved overseas. With all of the boat companies going out of business, I wonder why their VOC allocation can't be absorbed by those still working?

it would be nice if the environmental emissions (VOCs included) were driven by science - and reasoned measurements - instead of politics. Political environmental laws are not helpful...
It's possible to work at a distance these days, as well....

HERE IS a twisted underwear observation.... VOCs seem to limit Mac production. So why are Windmill blades not limited? Different materials? could be.. but you see my point...

Manufacturing Moved Overseas ...HEY! lets start competing with Sri Lanka with Boat and Vessel dis-assembly. We can do it ALL in Oregon though...
I have spent a lot of days months and a few years living in 3rd world countries and some of it isn't pretty, isn't clean and generally isn't safe to live in . I have Kids My Kids have kids I do not desire to trash this place like some do . Surly not so some can fill their pockets . I have seen the future some of you desire and its dirty and unclean and unsafe . National Geographic subscription is only $19.99 for the un-travelers, Found at TransAM as well

No, I don't see your point, but as I said, "I don't want to turn this political, but I am curious". The question was answered to my satisfaction and I certainly don't intend to respond to personal attacks in this forum.Divecoz wrote:NO I dont and I dont think you do either hahaha

Fellas,
Everyone needs to take breath and chill out a little. There are over 100 very active members using this board everyday. There are bound to be differing views, opinions, ways of doing things, and personalities.

Yikes people - back off the caffeine....
VOCs are handled scientifically - its pretty simple mass balance. If you bring in 100 tons of ethyl acetate, and waste stream out 90 tons, 10 tons have gone up in the stack, and you have to permit for that.

Re: Texas Macgregor dealer????
Eeek!!
Certainly no intent to offend, here!!!!
I have just never understood how some companies seem to be able to make all the boat/RV products they want in some locations, but other locations have such a profound limit...
It's not a political opinion - I just do not really understand... I read my copy of ACMA journal - and Pro Boat-builder journals - and still not clear.
***************
All of this was in relation to "I think it a great idea if more Macs could be sold on the Texas/Gulf Coast". After seeing the boats washed up in Galveston and in previous years in Alabama, Ms, La, and Florida - I think it a profoundly good thing for all if there WERE a lot more trailer sailers sold... Macs among them... There could have been a LOT FEWER boats washed up on the Galveston Causeway if there were more Macs sold here...

Re: Texas Macgregor dealer????
The greatness of this "forum" toward sailing, mods, and upkeep of the Mac come from just us plain ole' folk that express our experiences. We all have something to offer -- hope we dont loose sight of that....Sailing is an ongoing (neverending) learning experience.
The Mac is a fine boat...but the multitude of stuff that can be done on/to, this boat seems neverending (great fun, though).
Salute Hamn-X ...

Re: Texas Macgregor dealer????
It is sad that my innocent question has resulted in such a firestorm. It was asked in a purely apolitical manner due to my ignorance of the VOC issue. If it offended anyone on this board, I humbly apologize, but I still do not understand why it would. Again, sorry for the flap.

I know I know.........some people just love to tease.......
but seriously Mike,
That price is not going to fly.
better be on the the shy side of 400K, let the owner add goodies.
Or you will be spending money you wont recover....
1984,1985, 1986....... they were about 100K new....
adjusting for real inflation....... vehicles, fuel, tools, consumables....(real estate out of the picture) over 30 years.....s
somehow........I even wonder if 400K is way too much. Yes I know the cost of parts........ Remember.......the real reason production halted in the 90s....money to be made.......
....Next project is a 70' epoxy Macgregor. Epoxy does not count ...........
