Sounds like a larger S-2 with a cast iron retractable dagger board. They are out of biz now.

sorry to change the subject a little, Bill do you sell those stainless ladder attachments that attach to the genoa track on the side of the boat? I just bought a 5 rung stainless ladder that folds, If I remember right Scot from big bear bought the same set up and bought some attachments from you...I bought those nice Genoa cam cleats from you so I moved my lines back to the cockpit where I steer, thats the track Im talking about. heres the ladder, except mine has two bolts coming out of the top curved handles

In other words I want a Cabo Rico 38 or thereabouts ... and I'll live aboard.
Welcome to de islands, mon.
I second that!

Was that a ballast system - or a "getting-bal-LASTed" system?Bill at BOATS 4 SAIL wrote:WhiskeyAWKIII wrote:What type of ballast system would you like to see on a new boat?
If the latter, I prefer cachaça, which can be described as "Brazilian cane jet fuel".
And we'd better move this part of the thread to the Pub.

The Genoa track is higher on the forward end. I got a shorter ladder similar to that from Garhauer and sold it to a customer that said he could modify the top so it would hang straight down.aya16 wrote:sorry to change the subject a little, Bill do you sell those stainless ladder attachments that attach to the genoa track on the side of the boat? Thanks, would wild bill do? BWY had what I was looking for. The bill was small as the price was right, They said the part comes with a little bill that sticks out to mount it.

Re: Ballast: Whaddyal Thnk?
In my fantasy someone soon should make the perfect familysailer based on the the ideas in the Mac forum - i have head full of ideas for a perfect boat , my boat should have trifoil type forehull , it should be made of foamsandwich , waterballast and weighted svingkeel is a must ... The wide treekeeled foreship would prevent heeling and have a lot of space for a closed and roomy forecabin and a big sunbed on deck , when heeling it will lift the outer hull and be a catamaran .... The boat would be stable and roomy enough for a toiletroom with 190 showerheigth and 1,2 m length and width ... Are there anybody out there who will cooperate and produce the ultimate boat ???

IMHO that is why boat builders/designers compromise on design. Everyone has a fantasy boat idea and most all are different
Builders would go broke building umpteen different designs. Although I am sure, if you have deep enough pockets, anyone could have their fantasy boat designed and built. Most of us pick an chose the design, type of boat that most perfectly fits our needs. That is why most of us are here.

A few months ago in Cruising World, one of their regular contributors, Fatty Goodlander, started his column with his own "fantasy boat". There were so many contradictions (long and beamy, short and fast, stiff and responsive, all but "Frick & Frack"!) that he made his point perfectly:Love MACs wrote:IMHO that is why boat builders/designers compromise on design. Every single boat out here is a compromise. No one boat can be everything to anyone!
Ab-so-lutely! (I've changed your emphasis a bit.) If my Mac didn't do everything I want for now - well enough to satisfy me, or well enough for me to overlook its deficiencies - I would have bought something else that did.LoveMACS wrote: Most of us pick and chose the design, type of boat that most perfectly fits our needs. (Like a big long J-Boat or maybe an Amel 54, either of which I can't afford and couldn't handle by myself....)

Yes, but some of us are getting "older" and can't handle four women at one time (no matter what the age)
