For all DFW sailors:

Welcome to the Venture Sailing Club of Dallas, formerly known as the
Venture/MacGregor Yacht Club of Dallas.

We are a non-profit organization that began in 1968 and continues on today
with principal owners of Venture/MacGregor sailboats and other trailerable
sailboats. We also include and invite lakelocked non-trailerable boats up
to 30 feet in length. Activities of the VSCD include sailing, cruising,
racing, regattas, meetings, seminars, lessons, programs, socials and
picnics. We currently meet the 3rd Tuesday of each month at a different
restaurant with road trips by members making recommendations for new
meeting places. Please see our calendar of events below and join us for fun
and fellowship about the different adventures and sailing experiences.

We publish a monthly newsletter for current members. The membership fee is
only $30.00 a year for your family. This membership fee invites your family
and friends to join in on all scheduled and unscheduled activities that may
take place at a moment's notice. This may include local lake cruises, full
moon cruises on various lakes in the Dallas area, road trips to areas such
as the Galveston Bay, Lake Texoma island cruises, and other areas of
interest.

Hi, DFW

I raced in a couple of MacGregor Nationals back in the day, you Texas guys taught me how to sail in a breeze/gale. I had been winning most or many of the PHRF races in the deep South for a while but not in that kind of wind. As recalled, race one start was mine and got to upwind mark first before the wind kicked in. A Texas v24 got by on the reach whilst I had a handfull with my tall rigged M25. End of 2nd upwind leg, most Texas boats were in front! Not another leg was had by me, not that day nor the next. Anyway, had a lot of fun with Texas hospitality. Anyone remember the name of the Mac dealers in that old time, one in FW and one in D.
To the point, please have some of your officers give me a call at the factory, got something for Texas

Mike, back in the late 90's when we were looking at Macs again after downsizing, the only dealer in the DFW area was The Rigg Shop, on Gordon Smith, in Rowlett, TX (NE of Dallas, E of Plano.) We eventually bought from Jim Alread in Little Rock for price reasons (he delivered from factory for less). We weren't interested in racing or club activities so didn't get involved wth others in the area. That's still our style so this is all I can tell you.
