Welcome to Camano..
I haven"t posted on this site since 2004-5, just looked around again today and re-registered.
I keep a 2002 26x moored during the summer off CCC Beach1, We don't do any winter sailing but I do float Port Susan
in a kayak during the winter.
I use the Cavalero boat launch with an F150 , works well as long as the tide is high, 7ft +
Port Susan sailing is pretty good in the afternoon during summer and fall when N NW winds come up, fairly steady and not much chop. During the winter months when the winds are from the south Port Susan gets quite ruff.

Hope to see you out there..PaulT.

Mention of Port Susan Bay on a rough day reminded me of a weekend crabbing there, out of Camano Island, in the days before we got our Mac. We left 2 traps out overnight and awoke to 30 knots of wind across 20 miles of fetch, 3 foot shore break, and 5 to 6 foot swells. We launched into the surf, took on several inches of water, and had just enough distance between swells to bob up and down without burying the bow of the canoe. We managed to retrieve our traps, and were rewarded with a pair of legal sized dungeness in each trap. Those swells look much more impressive when you're kneeling in a 17 foot Grumman.

Thats Port Susan. Nice pics Chinook.
I've done some crabbing using a kayak, not in as rough conditions, its quite humorous paddling to shore with a pot full of crabs on deck.
I tried posting a pic of Port Susan and my Mac with no luck.

You may not get an answer, Darren. metronome has not checked into the forum, since 11/29/08.
