Go around to the west side of Saanich Penisula down Saanich Inlet to Brentwood Bay. You can stay at the dock and see Butchart Gardens via boat, way cool. It's a must see stop when in Victoria.
I visited Victoria with a close friend several years back. Stayed at the Empress, saw Buchart Gardens, visited some authentic pubs, had some nice meals. Arrived in Victoria by boat too - the high-speed ferry from Seattle. It was a terrific trip, great weather, in September.
Skipped the Empress tea party though,
and spent that $80 elsewhere!

I'm w/ Bruce ... really wish I could tow down from SF and join this cruise with you guys, but don't think I'll be able to. If last minute permits, I'll post here and hit the road!

We are back from the NW. We are going to 2 harbors on the 16th so we can help you guys with mooring. Once you moor there it is simple the next time. I will monitor channel 71 on Friday and Saturday, call from about 5 miles out so I can get ready to meet you at the mooring. My boat is "Seabird". We have a spot on Dave's pier 28 until the 16th. The wind is usually up by 11am so I would get across by then if you want a high speed crossing.

So who's planning on coming in when? after talking to Bob (BK) a couple days ago at the marina, here my plan...
I'll be at the marina (gangway 28 slip 1196) on Thursday evening around 4pm and i'll spend the night there. Bob will have already left for Two Harbors by then. Davies launch ramp is a 5 minute walk. You'll need to go to the harbor master's office for a guest slip which is on the opposite side as one of the last things before you would head to sea. I'd be glad to help anyone with whatever you need. I have a cell phone number so if you send me an email or leave a message here, I'll give that to you.
I'll leave Friday morning for Two Harbors probably around 10. We can do a slow motor for awhile if there isn't enough wind yet. I'm staying at Two Harbors Friday and Saturday night (Avalon will be too full to move there until Sunday). There is suppose to be some kind of beer festival or something in Two Harbors on Saturday. I need to be back home by Sunday night so I'll probably just sail part way to Avalon and then head towards home. Bob will go on to stay the night at Avalon so anyone staying can continue with him.

No, you won't need a reservation for Two Harbors. There are two guests slips at the end of 28. Bob's using one now so that is where you'll be. I'll look for you when I get there (around 4pm) or I'll give you a call on the way. I'll drop you a message with my number.

Also I have one extra restroom key and one extra parking pass if anyone has a need to park in the marina lot (for some reason I think I remember that - an Rv or something). You can leave your cars and trailers and the launch area.

Oh and whatever you do DON'T rig at the launch area. you'll need to pass under a bridge to get out. Motor to the slip and rig there. The guest slip is really an end-tie, but I can direct you to an empty slip that you can use for a couple hours if you'd like.

Thanks for the info....there was someone coming from the central valley, with an RV will look back to see if I can find them. Oh yeah, Erick said that the ramp only was set up for cash no credit cards to pay for parking there

Sounds like you guys will be having a great time. I wish that I could go with you. I'll just have to read about your trip when you get back. Steve, at Davis landing they also have a place to rinse your boat off if you want, but you have to bring your own hose. That area is a nice area. That end tie up at the end of Daves dock is real easy access. One of these days I'd like to go back there for a vist. Daves a good host.
Take care and have fun.

Once again, it was great meeting up with everyone. It was too short but still a lot of fun. I hope everyone made it home safely. I had a heck of a sail home on Sunday. Winds at something like 25kts and rolling swells at 6-8' Hit 7kts by GPS a few times and rarely under 6kts. Of course a couple of those were from current. Probably the most difficult sail I've done so far. I definetly have to do something to reduce the weather helm. That was a fight for the entire 25 miles.
Came back with a guy with a Potter 19 and have gained a great deal of respect for him and his boat.
Roy: It was a pleasure meeting you. Sorry about the crossing over, I really thought the wind would pick up sooner. And don't be surprized if I show up with a truck full of lumber looking for that wood shop. You may not get rid of me.
Sue: You're a lot of fun to be around. Think you'll be up for next years beer fest? and Bob: Much thanks again for the dingy shuttle, it really made things easy. I owe you one (or two).
Now to plan next years big trip...

Dave, Bob, Tim and Roy...we left at 0700 on sunday and got back to Long Beach around 1130. Sailed for awhile but the wife wanted to get going as the wind picked up. Motored at about 8 knts and surfed alot of those rollers home. Got back to Oxnard around 1600 and the wind was ripping about 30 mph or so. Was listening to my handheld and everyone was reporting problems at the anchorages in the channel islands.
Stopped for lunch at Ruby's Diner, 2nd and PCH, great food
and it was free! Sunday was there training day so you got everything for a few minutes of filling out a form..
Loved the Two Harbors area. A dingy is great to have there. Plenty of neat places to hike to and views to look at. It was fun seeing everyone again and its on to planning the next trip...San Juans next August.
Tim took the prize for travelling the furthest, on water, and Roy, by land.
