I was trying to point out that if the water level peaks twice a day, it is probably a tide....but I had verbal diarrea

Similar to San Felipe, Glacier Bay in SE Alaska has a tidal range of up to 24 feet, which makes for interesting challenges when anchoring out, and dinghying in for a beach explore. That tidal range works out to about one foot of rise or fall every 15 minutes in some cases.

This page on the UK Hydrographic Office (formerly Admiralty) site includes some useful and interesting explanations about tidal phenomena. Very readable as well. It also has a note about the tidal effects in the Northern Adriatic, which I think answers the original question in this thread.
