Thanks for the added info. I will call Scan Marine to discuss the problem. I've dealt with them before on parts and repairs, and they've provided very good service. I'm still leaning toward installing the drain tube, with an openable valve. The stove is mounted high enough, and we never take on more than a cup of water in the tube. However, even a 1/4 cup of water is enough to prevent the stove from starting.
