The offering, eh? I'd heard the ritual about sailing the boat backwards during your renaming ceremony but not about shaving my leg with my wife's razor.

Some say that when a boat is named it has been enlivened, and from that time on the vessel must be treated with the same respect that we would have for a person.
And why I'm perfectly happy to keep the name as is until SHMBO says otherwise.
