It looks like you are using 2 sets of the image brackets. You probably get one set from your photo website so you don't need to use the IMG buttons built into this editor.

As to your furler...yours is different than mine. My only recommendation is that as you let your foresail unwind (and the furling line is wrapping around the furler) make sure to keep some tension on your furling line so that it wraps nice and tight. If you don't keep some tension you may get a birds nest.

Good luck.

so thats probably what I need to do?
Just unwind the birds nest & mabye
the thing will un jam itself.
If it don't , what kind of furler
system would be a good one?

it's a grey keel guard,but cheaper

I have a CDI FF-2 Furler...without the bearing. Works well for me and I use a 150 Genoa on it. I think that is a pretty popular furler.

But I admit I had several issues the first few times I used it. The birds nest was common until I was told about keeping tension and slowing the rate at which the sail comes out...definitely don't let it run out free.

And I had several issues with the halyard getting wrapped up in the furled sail during both furling and unfurling ops. Had to cut my halyard off once and re-rig as it wrapped tight around the forestay/furling-tape junction up at the top.

You can do a search on "furler" and you will probably find hundreds of threads on this topic. It will make for some good reading and I guarantee you will learn things you did not know...you just can't help it with this many great sailors offering free advice.

I like your keel guard. I haven't really beached yet. If I find that is something I really will do I may invest in one of those as well.

Looks like you got the picture thing working well.

thank you

Don't give up on it yet. I am willing to bet there are a lot of those things out there working just fine.

Read some threads for further advice. Use it slow. Get a feel for it. It may work out fine once you get a few more attempts at it. I and many other had similar issues the first time we used ours.

I think a new furler cost quite a bit...probably take a good bite out of the Tax Stimulus Payment.

By the way. Where is Winder? I assume up near Lake Lanier. I just moved from Valdosta last July...was stationed at Moody AFB.

My son is at Georgia Tech...just completed his Freshman year...3.55 GPA in Computational Media and working as a Teachers Assistant teaching a computer class this Summer (as well as taking Physics). Dreams of working for TBS or TNT or CNN and never leaving Atlanta.

Unfortunately for him I think the geeky nerdiness doesn't fall far from the tree... :P

It may have an effect on sailing. But the good it will do me is
more important.I will beach from time to time. The lake
is low here & floating docks are out of the water.
good thing about that is the lake is so low all
you have to do is knock the fish in the head with a
bat & toss them in your boat..
down side - the fish now have ticks..

on I-85 of Atlanta Georgia.Nice place.Hardly no crime.
Lake lanier is only 15 miles from here.

It's named after that piece of glass that lets you look outside a house, car, or boat. :)

It could be your furler line isnt led into the drum and a good angle. Can you send a pic of how that looks, or describe where the line runs from the furler as precisely as you can?
