I was in Apalachia Florida (sp?) heading into the dock with a National Geographic Photo guy on board. Still had the 45 Honda; Dock was on the river 90 degrees off the current and wind just pass a bridge. I powered in hard with the Honda, set up perfect then shifted to reverse to powerstop. Unfortunately what I didn't know is that the shift cable had broken and when I went to reverse I was still in forward- the throttle cable was still intact- so when I put on the power to stop the boat, instead I blasted forward and stuck the bow under the floating dock and the photo guy on top face down. Now I always give the engine a little 'check' to make sure that when I shift to reverse it really is reverse!
