I think it's because Coke lines it's aluminum cans with iron oxide which has a magnetic pull. Sprite doesn't need iron oxide lining because it lacks the caffeine.

sounds like you have the answer,i just could not figure out how an aluminium tin could cause a compass to move

Coke lines it's cans with rust?????
So you are saying a magnet will stick to the can.

Cans in the US are almost all Al, but overseas there are still a lot of steel cans in use. Aluminum (or even aluminium) cans wont deflect the compass of course.
The metallurgy of cans is quite complex and a key part of the cost containment and biz plan

Clear bottles. Dark ones will deviate the compass.
This is why so many Mac owners drink Corona.

...perhaps because someone forgot to add the Coke to the rum they were drinking??....
FWIW - My Plastimo compass hasn't been installed, so it's still sitting on my desk. My can of Coke wouldn't budge it. Not arguing with bastonjock's observed phenomenon, however.

ROTFL I got the Cheech and Chong but I meant our cans of coke don't move the compass, not even a bit so therefore the world stays still according to my compass

First of all, you've got to be kidding about the iron oxide (RUST)

Please tell me that at 5 in the morning I'm just not awake enough to see a joke
Second. Forget second! You were joking right

hmmm!

Then I guess you have to drink Coke Zero to get no deviation.
