I was wondering if anyone has a picture of a custom MacM boat cover for on trailer storage.
I found one here: Sail Warehouse, but undecided if it is worth the $700. yet... I would like to see it on a boat first.
Does anyone know of any other places to purchase one?
or, Just use a tarp & Bungees?
or, Worth shrink wrapping?
I bought that cover for my M but havent used it yet (wont until winter) so I dont have a picture to share. I will say that it appears well made and the material is quite heavy. As a result I think putting the cover on and off is definitely a 2 man operation. I tried the tarps but had a lot of problems with water pooling and resultant sagging which made removal of the tarp quite difficult.
I don't know about other areas, but in the Chicago metro you can get a Mac shrink wrapped for winter for prices between 75 and 150, mast up or down. I am considering it but since I want to work on the boat most of the winter I am also considering tarping half and building a greenhouse over the aft end. My concern is cutting the tarps so that they lay flat and go around the life line stanchions. I have already mounted a level set of hangers along the fence for the mast but I am looking at moving it up under the roof eves to keep the snow off it completely.
There were some good ideas posted in this old thread: Winter cover
I've since used the same method to cover my boat 2 more winters and it has worked like a charm. By adjusting the framing, you can create as much clearance as you need for winter access to projects.

Edit: Gonna try to add some pix:
Hey, it works!!! View the whole set with descriptions at this link: Winter Cover Pix

I'm using the cover you are talking about. It actually is designed for a X but it will fit a M. However, after I had installed the stern railing seat from BWY I had to add about 1’ of length to the cover.
I trailer the boat quite often and with the cover everything stays clean inside. It is also a very nice protection against sun and snow. Maybe I can take some pictures after work and try to post them.
Good job on the structure, Cap't, AND on editing-in the pix~! (you can post Flickr's enlarged picture instead of the thumbnail version, by clicking before you copy the photo-address ... PM me for info).
Other approaches were shown in the link you provided above ...
now we just need some views from our Diver, just above!!
Following two alternatives from an earlier thread, linked above by Andy, Winter cover
FWIW, I prefer the less formal approach, using a couple of tarps with the mast-up, but then I don't need to worry about snow-loads. For longer-term coverage I get Costco's twin-pack tarps, less than 20 bucks for two very heavy tarps, each 11'x15'. As a boom tent, Wally sells a very a light-duty 9x12 for only 9 bucks. Light to handle, quick'n easy to fold & stow. Picture next week.

Here are some of the images. I also had to add a "sock" for covering the roller furler. Usually i do cover the boat by my self. I added 4 tennis balls on the stanchions, where i cut a X into and push them over the stanchion. There is a label on the cover with the following wording:
Tumacs Cover
Pittsburg PA
(412) 653-1188
How did you extend to cover to accomodate the stern rail seats? I have the BWY seats as well and it never even occured to me that it might be a problem.
I did cut the cover the cross way and sewed this additional piece in.
(light blue strip in the picture)
If I would do this again, I would contact Tumacs Cover and ask them to change their pattern to make the cover about 1 ft longer.
