Mast Cap Template

Post by ellsworb »

This is a longshot, but does anyone have an outline drawing or maybe an engineer put together a CAD drawing of the outline of the top of the mast. I'm putting together my new mast cap and want to mount it similar to Tahoe Jack with an exact fit plug to screw in from the side of the mast. Thought I would ask here before dropping my mast.

Thanks

A drawing showing the cross-section of the mast from the Macgregor website can be found here. Hope this helps.

I have the cad drawing (PDF) for the 26 X mast and boom. The problem is I am working out-of-state, so I do not have immediate access to it. Call Bill from Macgregor, and he’ll be able to fax it to you. If for some odd reason he can not, let me know. I’ll have my wife fax it to me and then I’ll post it.

mastcap for M

Post by dannyboy »

Kelly, I just replaced the mast on my 2005 M. The new mast does not come with a mastcap. I tried to use the old mastcap but it does not fit. The cross-section of the new mast is quite different than the old. Thought you would be interested....

I found a temporary fix for a "mast cap" -- alum. foil tape. Its good for a very long time, sticks well, and water proofs the mast. It trims easily, sticks well, and form fits exactly.

Ive used it for caps on pvc pipe for pasture electric fencing (keeping livestock), and the foil tape has lasted 3 years on some posts. It would probably last for years longer if not abused by livestock.

You'll have the shiney-ist mast cap in the harbor :P
