Teak Flooring?

Post by Jimnkathy »

Does anyone know where to buy Teak flooring? I am looking for sheets of it that I can cut to fit my 26x. I am looking for the flooring with the white lines in it. ANy info would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

The white strips are holly. The average Joe can't afford pure teak and holly flooring. Most of what you see, even in expensive boats like Pacific Seacraft, is a thin veneer of teak and holly on top of plywood. And even that's expensive. Google teak holly plywood and look for a source near you. It's really expensive to ship a single sheet. From what I've seen, almost doubles the cost.

You're talking about teak & holly plywood (holly is the white stripes), and you better have some cash on hand - it's expensive.

It generally comes in three thicknesses - 6mm (~5/16"), 12mm (~15/32") & 18mm (~11/16") - and a 4x8 sheet runs from around $190 for the thinnest to $250 for the thickest. For a Mac sole, I'd use the thinnest, and if you're very good with your measuring you can *just* do it with one sheet.

Google "teak & holly" "4 x 8" and you'll probably find a place in your area that has it.

Have a look at these links for more info:

(BTW, I have a sheet in my garage... now if I can only get this leg healed so I can can make the floor!)

Not Cheaper , But maybe easier to work with and less costly to ship.
Near Zero Maintenance that's worth a bunch of Boat bucks and Sailing time.

Hmm... nice thought, but I'm sitting here doing the math...

It comes in 6' wide roll and is sold by the foot at $45/foot... and since the holly strips run linearly, that's probably around 5' you'll need... so we're talking $225 for a vinyl floor vs $190 for the real thing?

Easy choice for me. Gimmie real wood. Maintenance on a real T&H flooring is not much more than a once-yearly oiling. Not too bad.

well..... when you have a pattern for a 2002 26X, Sign me up and I'll gladly purchase it from you. I'm sure shipping won't be that much to Canada! (riiiiight)...... It'll be worth it I'm sure.

Thanks......... Randy. :macx:
