Where to buy on East Coast
I would like to find a dealer within driving range of Wilmington NC, and thought it might be a good idea to get some referrals for owners. Anyone have any recommendations. Or dealer to stay away from.
Thanks
Pete

Pete - dealer information is on the bubble to left, second from bottom.
I bought my boat from Art Reiders at Havencraft in MA and he was wonderful. Unfortunately, he passed away and the business was sold to someone else - I havent dealt with them since so I cant comment plus or minus on the new owner.

Pete, one of the best dealers I've ever met is right there in Wilmington--Will Scott of Scott's Yachts. He and his wife Sandy will go out of their way to make you happy. He has racing experience with a Mac and is very knowledgable. I would definitely buy from Will again. I have nothing negative to say about his dealership. A "mom & pop" operation--no high pressure and a lot of trust.

I had mine delivered in S. Georgia by Jim Allred of the Sailboat Centre. He's based out of Arkansas but travels all over. I found him to be very knowledgeable and a straight shooter. Except for a couple of minor issues beyond his control, I was very pleased with the boat. I had a gouge on the motor ventilation plate and the cockpit cushions took a week longer to get delivered from the factory. The motor issue was handled under warranty by the local Honda dealer.

I looked on the Dealers page and just wanted to see what you all said. I tried calling Scott's Yachts several times but no answer. I will try again next week.
Its funny I actually met Scott some 15-20 years ago when I was a teenager. We were at a Christmas dinner with the local model airplane club.

Good Dealer
I bought an 'M' from Otho (pronounced "'O' tho") Campbell - He bought Havencraft (in New England?) and also had another dealership in Virginia...think he still does.
He has a lot of experience with these boats and is very knowledgeable. And I believe I received the best price. He sells all up & down the East Coast.
Go to Havencraft to find him. I e-mailed him just the other day. He always responds quickly. I really can not say enough good things about him. He drove all the way to Pittsburgh to fix some initial problems I had. Sent me the new mast raising system when it came out and did not even charge me for it or delivery. Numerous e-mails were answered promptly.

I got mine from Jim Perrie at A1 Sailboats in Mayo, Maryland. Jim is a good guy, trustworthy and a pleasure to deal with. He is a bit of a minimalist and does not offer as many add-ons as some other dealers but if you plan to tinker with the boat yourself to customize it to your taste then that should not be a problem.
