I just assumed that my MAC 26X couldn't plane while sailing. My assumption is that the force of the wind on the sails creates a moment arm that torques the boat down into the water, thus making it a displacement hull while sailing and subject to the 1.34 X square root of LWL. I would think this especially downwind, pushing the bow down.
I just thought the Mac would plane under power.

Am I too far off base here?
