EAGLE SEACHAMP
I just returned from the Cleveland boat show. Last week BoatersWorld sent me an EAGLE SEACHAMP. I paid $499.99 for it. I had to call BoatersWorld as the store I went to, called their supply wharehouse and were told they couldnt get me one. Today at the boat show I spoke to the same sales people I had talked to at the same store and told them I had called Boaters World and got one sent to me. When the mananger at the show looked the Seachamp up on his paper work he said the boatshow price was $360.00. As they had charged me $499.99 I asked if they would give me a deal on the GPS ANTENNA MODULE I was out of luck though as I was told they dont carry them. So,
now its back to the internet and BoatersWorld web site. Just thought you would like to hear this tale. I am now ALBION as I changed my username from Everyman.[/u]

NO DEAL DUANE
DUANE. Boatersworld would not give me a rebate at the show for the SEACHAMP2000c DF.. Even though I only got it in the mail last Friday.I even called them when I got back from the boat show. Then I told them, "as I just paid $499.99, and now you say the show price is $360.00. How about giving me a deal on the antenna". Even my begging didnt help. 50\50 said they have the antenna at MARINEDEAL.COM for $189.00. I tried them tonight. Seems like they dont have them. Everyman .I CHANGED MY NAME TO ALBION ON HERE.Duane Dunn, Allegro wrote:I assume this is the Eagle Sea Champ 2000c DF.
$360 is a great price. You can get the GPS antenna direct from Lowrance (the manufacturer) for $228. That makes it even less than the original deal of $599 I paid for the combo.

gps
I thought about that, but as I said earlier, it seems like even the sales people at the show cant get them, they were the same guys who called from the Boaterworld store. So I didnt want to send it back and pay for S/H then not be able to get one at the show. FRANK C . I wont take a chance on another antenna other that the Eagle EGC-12W or the Lowrance LGC-12W I think they are the same antenna. Am I right in my thinking.DLT wrote:I would have bought to boat show unit and returned the $499 unit!

They are the same antenna. The antenna is used across many Eagle and Lowrance products so finding one should not be a problem. Lowrance will have them at LEI Extras.
I have a older lowrance that I left wired to my pedestal from my previous GPS. The connector is different so some work would be needed to test it. Having a antenna without WAAS should not make a difference other than position accuracy. It's really a question of are they electrically the same.

From what I have heard, those antennas have a subtle but important difference. This is from a conversation with a tech at Lowrance.
The LGC-12W can be used on either a Lowrance unit or an Eagle unit. It's interchangeable all day long.
The EGC-12W can be used on either unit too. The difference is that when you use the EGC-12W, it becomes electronically 'branded' and then is only usable for the brand that it was branded by.
I asked the tech what the point of that was and why would anybody take the time to search down an EGC-12W which is difficult to find and then intentionally so limited. He said he didn't understand it either.
I just bought the Sea Champ and LGC-12W and will install them when things thaw out a little.

GPS ANTENNA
Like I have mentioned before, its confusing to a Newbie like me. I dont want to make any mistakes and screw things up. Hence all the questions I am asking.

Eagle Seachamp
Beene.....the inverted cone is a base for the puck that allows the puck to be mounted to the top of a vertical mast pole. My package included the cone and puck....and I expect it is a standard alternate mount. I am very happy with the mega Velcro mount on the starboard aft corner below the stanchion. (see mod). It is easily accessed for removal when I pull the head unit off for security.
