Yep, just one antenna - I subscribe to the "KISS" theory, and basically hate running more wires than I have to.
My VHF antenna is mounted to the top of the mast, of course, but when I go out without a mast I use a shorty Shakespeare antennna with a suction cup on the bottom and I stick it to the mast pulpit (the metal thing on the deck where the mast mounts).
BTW, it bears mentioning for any "newbies" out there - *NEVER* operate your VHF without the antenna attached! You'll risk ruining it.
