The last 3 days have also been gorgeous on the St. John's River in Jacksonville. My left spreader appears to be slanted down and it looks like the screw might be loose, but I needed to run the motor anyway. It was a great weekend, the water was almost glass, light winds, 75 deg F, barely a cloud in the sky. After lunch on Sunday at The Florida Yacht Club, my 4 kids and I motored up to the Jacksonville Landing to get some ice cream. Mom met us back at the new floating dock with new white shirts to take our annual Christmas Card photo. Hope this tag works:

Here's to hoping the weather holds out to next weekend!

Weather

As much as I have come to dislike the winter in my old age, I still remind myself to count my blessings. Yes, we just had over a foot of snow a couple weeks back, melted now. Just got over a trio of storms, the third of which had winds exceeding 60kts. I think waternwaves was out there proving his mac could do 17knts under sail! :o Much destruction left behind, oh well at least we get good winds. :D Weather is ugly recently with all the rain & cold temps, actually it is unseasonal for this neck of the woods, something to do with global warming or El Nino. We pay a hefty price with seasons here but.... I can say with all confidence that once sailing season starts those who live & sail the Pacific Northwest enjoy one of the worlds premiere sailing destinations. Call it spectacular, Super Natural, Awesome, they all apply 8) I have heard the Carribbean is nice too but have also heard from a local who has been there several times that we have better scenery. :P Eat your hearts out Southerners! :D

We have big problems up here too Lease.
1 Jan 2007 will mark the beginning of the 8th year of drought for me.
We are approaching level 5 water restrictions.
Fortunately we get the odd shower which keeps the grass alive, so dust isn't an issue yet.
It is a big struggle, and looking up at a clear blue sky with high temps 365 days a year is soul destroying.
Pleased I choose to be a grower and not a grazier tho.
Anyway, it will rain one day and everything will be just fine.
Laugh at this you blokes.
Last drought in the 90's, when it did rain out west, there were kids as old as 6 that had never seen rain in their life.
Thats the fact bit.
The fiction bit says "they passed out and the parents had to chuck buckets of dust over them to bring them around!"
My youngest (12) went on a school trip to Canberra this yr. They spent 2 days on the ski field. For him, (as with most) had never touched snow in their lives. Took a photo of it. Said it felt funny, and it was COLD.
It'll work out fine tho.
Cheers
Phillip
