chainplate and other inspections

Post by pythonguy »

Well, it hasn't stopped raining yet but it is expected to taper off tonight and hold off tomorrow for a bit. I have a good idea where the current visible drips are but I 'd like to know more about how to inspect the most likely candidates. For the roof window the inspection is obvious, but the pedestal, front V birth drip, and rear steering arm drip that I have I have not nailed down the water entry point. I have read of the hose trick, but I also like visual inspection, and obviously to seal a chainplate or some other fitting it has to be exposed.

Does anyone have a good procedure on inspecing likely leak spots in the M? Is there a good way to visually inspect all the possible deck hardware that could let some water penetrate?

Thanks!

2 people, one inside and the other outside with a water hose.
