Swivel mast base

Hi everyone I just bought a Venture of newport 23 in Texas (thanks Bo!) and brought it all the way back up to Saskatchewan Canada. I have raised the mast a couple of times myself (with my son) and I must say that swaying sideways is scary. I've read about the mast raising system and the baby stays so I will work on something. I plan to completly refit the boat over our long Canadian winter and I was wondering what kind of mods do I need to do to put a swivel mast base in? Do I need to modify how the stays are attached at the top of the mast, and especially the side stays or do I just need to add the swivel base? Thanks anyone for the info.
