I use a powdered nitrate compound from west marine -

This is said to be "100% biodegradable"
I did not like the blue stuff as it did not handle the smell.
I have never had a problem with dumping the potty in Fl. I do ask first and try not to carry the can when people are around. I have never used a pump out. My system is not set up for that.
Most marine fuel points have pump outs in Fl.

Im overdue to put my macerator mod in the mods, but will do it soon...I sail on both salt coastal and fresh water where dumping is prohibited, so I came up with a solution that allows both pumpout mode and grind it up and chuck it mode.....on the Great Lakes you also have to show the ability to lock out the macerator, or face fines.
portapotti
1. Previously, I emptied the 1/2 filled potti receiving tank into the home toilet, using the tank's large screw cap covered outletantisplash techniques metioned by others above.
2. However, yesterday I tried the marina "suck it out hose". My Sanipotti 5 gallon receiving tank also has removably-capped, plumbable, vent and outlet spouts. The latter slopes down into and to the bottom of the tank, where it opens to the tank interior. With the slide valve on top partly open to vent the tank, application of the marina suction hose to outer end of the outlet spout emptied the tank in seconds. Refilled tankwith fresh water and sucked it out a couple of times for "cleanliness". $5 charge.
