BK you are right...there is a ridge inside the spreader socket.

Rich ..its the 349 dollar dodger briefly pictured on the site a week or so ago

boatbimini.com spreaders are SS with an aluminum pipe inside.

Just back from the landing...lift is still semi down. they were able to get some parts and restored the lift to only 3500 lb capacity. a scale is installed just below the hook to get the weight. They are hoisting Macs out but are weighing them as they close to 3500 lbs on a good day. Previously we had to sling out with ballast, now they want it dumped to make the weight limit. Saw Bill's Mac26M at the docks waiting to get out.

Thanks Steve for the update about our mutual storage marina in Oxnard.

My Mac has been sitting there (docked) since last Thursday morning! I
suspect that until such time the weight limitation is lifted it will be there
until the crane is repaired. Cause... it definitely has a full load of water
ballast as they have previously mandated.

And to further complicate matters... I'm sitting up here in the High Desert
with the only keys to the hatchway cover and motor... which would enable
motoring out and doing a "dump".

Maybe I should leave them a duplicate set for emergency purposes?

Then again I don't know how wise that would be... and would definitely
respect you opinion relative to such an option... via personal email... of
course.

Keep me (us) posted...

I'm confused....when you have your boats "lifted" out....where do you store them....on the trailer? If so....why not pull them out yourself.

Idle Time....you are right. I can as I have a tow vehicle. Many use this type of storage as you do NOT need a tow vehicle to enjoy your boat. The landing hauls your boat around with an electric golf cart. If you want tow it somewhere they haul it out to the parking lot for you to hitch up and go.

The cost is almost the same as just renting storage space in a storage lot, and launching it yourself. I spent 110 bucks a month to store and 3 bucks to launch and park, each time out. At the landing 120 bucks gets storage and unlimited in and out slings. The owner always comments that they lose money on Macs as they go in and out sooooo much.

PS they get 30 bucks for a one time sling in and out!

OK ..that makes sense. Works if you want to have a boat...pay lower storage fees and not have the expense of a tow vehicle....I got it now. So...can you call and say "I want to use my boat today" and they will have it in the water when you get there?

That is one of the nice features. Call and give them a 20 minute heads up and the Mac is tied up at dock side. Same if you return after they close, tie up and it gets put away when they open...sometimes a little later! They have a wash rack and water spigots are spaced around the yard for your own use.

>saw your Mac still tied up at the landing...<

Wow... that means it has been sitting there for a week now..!

Since my boat still has the water ballast in it... and if their crane
is not yet totally operational... they are probably not going to pull
it out.

Hmmm... me thinks I better give the yard master (Noel) a phone
call. (smile)

One thing though... I had noticed a slight bit of moisture in the
bilge area the last time I was down. This way... with the boat
fully ballasted (still) and in the water for quite a few days... I can
do another bilge check and see if I have a developing problem or
not... as the case may be.

I'm tied up (no pun intended) until Monday in a local golf tournament
but if necessary will go down to Oxnard come Tuesday.

Thanks for the update...

Hey Steve... I won't be coming down until this coming Sunday
but will be staying until Thursday. I believe Rich will be in the
area as well... during the aforementioned time frame.

Bobby... I suspect the problem with the marina at this point in
time is me. My docked Mac is *fully* ballasted and until such
time the lift is fixed they will only work Macs that are without
water ballast. Since my boat is locked up and I am presently
150 miles away from their area with the only set of keys... I
guess it's going to sit for awhile.

Also the lift may be fixed by now... but they might be continuing
to stick with the "no water ballast" policy. Probably something they
should have done at the git go. Could be that a fully ballasted
Mac was to much of a strain on the lift... which is quite old
according to the yard master.

Bill, went down today and the lift is still down....for up to 6 weeks. They have a Pettibone crane coming today for lifting this weekend. Your boat is still in the water....Good field trial for some of that water line cleaner! If it works let us know the brand that will clean that!!
